1. Curriculum Aims and Vision

In alignment with NEP 2020, the Hindi Course B curriculum emphasizes Competency-Based Education, Art-Integrated Learning, and Experiential Learning. The aims include:

  • Developing comprehensive reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in Hindi for everyday application.
  • Fostering critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to express independent thoughts through diverse writing formats.
  • Cultivating sensitivity towards multicultural, multilingual contexts, and social issues using literature.
  • Integrating art and experiential learning to make language acquisition joyful and effectively linked to real-world scenarios.

2. Course Structure and Marking Scheme

The total assessment comprises an annual board examination (3 hours) and internal assessments throughout the year.

3. Section-Wise Syllabus Overview

Section A: Unseen Comprehension (14 Marks)

  • Two unseen prose passages of approximately 200 words each.
  • Assessment includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs), very short, and short answer type questions testing comprehension, analysis, and critical thinking.

Section B: Practical Grammar (16 Marks)

Students must answer 16 out of 20 questions based on the following topics:

  • Padbandh (पदबंध): 4 Marks
  • Vakya Rupantaran (रचना के आधार पर वाक्य रूपांतरण): 4 Marks
  • Samas (समास): 4 Marks
  • Muhavare (मुहावरे): 4 Marks

Section C: Textbooks (28 Marks)

  • Prose Segment - Sparsh Part 2 (11 Marks): MCQs and subjective questions based on chapters testing thematic knowledge, comprehension, and expression.
  • Poetry Segment - Sparsh Part 2 (11 Marks): MCQs and subjective questions evaluating poetic comprehension and interpretation.
  • Supplementary Reader - Sanchayan Part 2 (6 Marks): Short answer questions (50-60 words) exploring themes and characters from the prescribed stories.

Section D: Creative Writing (22 Marks)

  • Anuched Lekhan (Paragraph Writing): 120 words based on given cues (5 Marks).
  • Patra Lekhan (Formal Letter): 100 words (5 Marks).
  • Suchna Lekhan (Notice Writing): 60 words on practical life situations (4 Marks).
  • Vigyapan Lekhan (Advertisement Writing): 40 words (3 Marks).
  • E-mail Lekhan OR Laghukatha Lekhan: Formal E-mail writing (80 words) OR Short Story writing based on a given prompt (100 words) (5 Marks).

4. Internal Assessment (20 Marks)

The internal assessment evaluates consistent performance and multifaceted language skills:

  • Periodic Assessment (सामयिक आकलन): 5 Marks
  • Multiple Assessment (बहुविध आकलन): 5 Marks
  • Portfolio (पोर्टफोलियो): 5 Marks
