All About JEE Main
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is India's premier gateway to B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning programs at NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.
What is JEE Main?
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is a highly competitive national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It provides a gateway to top engineering institutes across India.
JEE Main consists of two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E./B.Tech). Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
Additionally, placing among the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main is required to qualify for JEE Advanced, which is the gateway for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
JEE Main Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate must have passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination.
- Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.
- No age limit for appearing in the exam.
- Candidates can appear in JEE Main for 3 consecutive years from the year of passing their Class 12 exam.
- For admission to NITs/IIITs/CFTIs, candidates must have secured a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in Class 12 or rank in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

- Master NCERT books thoroughly, especially for Chemistry line-by-line.
- Solve standard reference books like H.C. Verma (Physics) and Cengage (Maths).
- Solve at least the last 5-10 years of NTA JEE Main PYQs.
- Take computer-based mock tests regularly to build stamina and familiarity.
- Create an error log to track and fix your commonly made mistakes.
- Keep a handbook of formulas and short notes for quick revision.
